Free Rides to the Polls- GA 2022 Runoff

For some people, getting to the polls is easy and quick. For others, including people without cars, people who use wheel chairs or have mobility challenges, and people living in areas without reliable mass transit, it can be a challenge. To help make voting possible for more people, several community groups and voting organizations offer free rides to (and home from) the polls for the Georgia Runoff Election 2022.

How should you choose which free ride service to use? They all provide free, safe rides, and are all arranged by organizations who are experienced in providing these services. However, Rideshare2vote.com and New Georgia Project‘s Rides To the Polls focus on specific counties, mostly in urban areas. Plus1Vote’s Uber rides program and The People’s Agenda Ride to the Poll both operate state wide. While the free Uber rides are convenient, wheelchair accessible Uber vehicles may not be available in all areas- and Uber rides require a smartphone. Luckily, the other three organizations are all able to provide transportation to people who use wheelchairs or have mobility challenges, and can be arranged either online or by phone.

If there is another group you think we should include on this page, please let us know via our contact us page.

Free Uber rides to the polls- enter promo code GAVote in the Uber app, or click the voucher link at Runoff.vote. The code will provide 2 free rides to the polls, and can be used to vote early, to vote on Election Day, December 6, or to drop off your mail-in ballot at a dropbox or your county registrar. (Mail in ballots must be received by 7pm on Election Day to be counted, and the holiday shopping and shipping season is in full swing. Returning your ballot in person will likely be more reliable than the US mail.)

Rideshare2vote.com organizes community volunteers to drive voters during early voting and on Election Day for the December 6th runoff election. Wheelchair accessible vans/rides are available by request.  Rides are available in Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Spalding, Richmond, Muscogee, Macon-Bibb, and Chatham Counties. A full service area map is here, rides can be booked by phone at 1-888-977-2250 or on their website, and volunteers can register here.

The New Georgia Project‘s Rides To the Polls service offers van and Lyft rides to the polls during early voting and on Election Day for the December 6th runoff election. Wheelchair accessible vans/rides are available by request.  Rides are available in the following counties: Chatham, Gwinnett, Richmond, Fulton, and DeKalb. To schedule your ride, fill out their online application here or call their hotline at 1-800-874-1541. The NGP line is staffed 9 am-5 pm, Monday-Friday, and can help you schedule your ride, check your voter registration, and answer any questions you have.  When calling after business hours, you can leave a voicemail and they’ll return your call.

The Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda provides rides to the polls for people across Georgia. They can provide transportation suitable for people who use manual and/or motorized wheelchairs, as well as other special needs. You can arrange your ride at ridetothepoll.com, by calling 1-877-524-8683, or volunteer as a driver here.
